The coast changes the forecast.

Offshore swell is not the same as what reaches the beach. Fathom accounts for island shelter, spot direction and local wave behaviour before it scores the session.

In Perth, a local wave model estimates how Rottnest and the seabed alter incoming swell. If that model cannot answer, Fathom uses a simpler geometry estimate rather than claiming false precision.
